ABOUT ME

My name is Jay but some know me as Minty. I'm a professional tattoo artist and I've been tattooing for 11 years now. Being a tattoo artist comes with its awesome perks too. I get to create all kinds of art in several different mediums. I enjoy mostly using color pencils, spray paints, and markers but I do dabble in several other mediums from time to time.

Over the past few years I've also added photography to my creative expression. My favorite style of photography is whats known as light painting. Ive had a passion for this for years and a couple years ago started to actually learn and create light paintings. Now when it comes to photography I don't just do light painting however it is my main focus.

In my personal life I've overcome a lot and it's made me the person I am today. I'm born and raised in the burbs of Chicago but I've also lived in Wisconsin (which is where my tattoo career got started) and I lived in Florida for a couple years. One of the biggest things I overcame was testicular cancer. In late 2009 I was told I have 6 months to live if I didn't do anything about it. Here we are 11 years later and its made me appreciate life so much more. With as crazy as life has been, the biggest that I've learned is that you need to be more positive and you don't want to be afraid of cutting out the negativity in your life.
